Abelardo Rodriguez Antes
Abelardo Rodriguez Antes was born on January 4th, 1930 in Havana. Since he was very young made incursions into dramatic arts as amateur, which allows to become a proffessional actor in radio and television. Rodriguez Antes worked in Radio Progreso for 40 years as actor and scriptwriter, especially as director of musical and drama programs such as “Alegrias de Sobremesa”, “La Gran Aventura de la Humanidad” and “La Novela de las Dos”, among others, has his unmistakable hallmark. For his greatest mastery in the radio was awarded in Radio National Festivals and UNEAC Caracol Awards. Rodriguez Antes was considered one of the best directors of radio in Cuba, his passing away in full possession of his faculties let us a sadness not only in the National Radio but also in Cuba’s culture.
Mirella Latorre: A Chilean voice captivated the Cuban people
Mirella Latorre, daughter of renowned Chilean writer Mariano Latorre, National Literature Award in Chile and widow of the outstanding journalist Augusto Olivares, Salvador Allende’s personal friend who died in La Moneda during the coupd’etat on March 11th,1973, which plunged Chile into the shadows.
On the death of her husband, Latorre was alone with two children from her first marriage with Emilio Pacull. Consequently, she went into exile in France where her younger children used to study.
Later, she returned to Havana by an invitation of the Union of Cuban Journalists to receive a post mortem award to her husband Augusto Olivares. Cuba captivated her, she never returns to France.Nela del Rosario Medina
Nela del Rosario was born on February 22nd, 1922 in Matanzas and she passed away in 2006 in Havana city. Her indelible memory honors the Cuban radio and television.
She was an outstanding figure of the Cuban television, as well as a versatile actress and an excellent music teacher. Nela del Rosario was founder of the Cuban television at the beginnings of 1950. She was the continuity announcer of news, cultural and children programs.
