Irma Shelton: An outstanding journalist and announcer

Irma SheltonIrma Shelton carried out her primary and secondary education at the 26 de Julio School Center, located in eastern Santiago de Cuba province. In 1976, she entered the Warner Moro Perez Language School, where she was part of its polyphonic choir and participated in some provincial and national festivals organized by the Federation of High School Students (FEEM) and the Federation of University Students (FEU).

In 1980, she graduated, with the bets student record, as an English teacher. She began to work at Antonio Maceo Vocational School to carry out her practices. While doing so, she had allergy problems that prevented her from continuing her studies.

 Tanya Granados: The First Female Voice of Radio RelojTanya Granados whose real name is Miriam Alfonso was the first female voice of Radio Reloj. Her debut as announcer was exactly 22 years after this radio station went on the air in 1947. Tanya is the daughter of prominent journalist and professor Rogelio Alfonso Granados. She spent her childhood among books and news. Her family was frequent listener of Radio Reloj and CMBF Radio Musical Nacional, hence her love for the most exclusive music. At her grandmother’s house she sometimes listened to other radio stations that broadcast radio serials. She has never thought in the possibility of working in the radio and less as an announcer. At that moment being an actress was her greatest goal in life.

Xiomara Fernandez: A Cuban Woman Devoted to the Radio

Fernandez from Matanzas is Artist of the Merit of the Cuban RadioXiomara Fernandez is Artist of Merit of the Cuban Radio and Television; she is also a renowned actress and announcer. She began her artistic career in 1963 with the Professional Theater Group in Matanzas, known at that time Gerard Phillips.

In March 1970 was member became part of the Dramatic Group in Radio 26, Matanzas, through an aptitude test by the leading actor of the National Radio and Television, Armando Soler (Cholito), which was in Matanzas in the training of Radio 26 dramatic group.
