Although many people thought that Ileana would study history degree, she surprised everybody when choosing Journalism. "I say surprised because I am a peaceful, laconic, and quiet. However, I passed the aptitude tests to register for the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Havana, and I studied that degree."

This January we celebrate the 85th anniversary of the birth of Maruja Sanchez, one of the most remembered and revered producers of CMBF, Radio Musical Nacional, in all its recent history. She was named one of their sacred figures when I began my work as a journalist at the end of the 1980’s.

The Cuban Radio Portal has again taken up the term “Educational Radio” due to its importance for the new Cuban generations. The Cuban portal interviewed the prominent professor and radio worker Roberto Rodriguez Menendez for him to provide his point of view on this term and its development on the island.
